About the Hunter Strategic Pest Animal Management Plan.

The Hunter Regional Strategic Pest Animal Management Plan was developed through consultation with a range of stakeholders. It's important that we all work together to manage pest animals.

Across the Hunter region, pest animals have a significant economic impact on primary production and pose a substantial threat to threatened species and ecological communities.

The plan covers 12 established pest species, including feral deer, pigs and cats. It also highlights 'alert species' which are pests that have not established in the Hunter region, yet pose a significant risk to our community and industries.

Other species, such as feral birds and fish, which have been identified as pests, are also captured.
