Discover the data and insights

This StoryMap for the Central West and Orana was created to share valuable data and insights that inform the vision, challenges, and opportunities within the region. As part of the NSW Government’s commitment to transparency, this StoryMap provides accessible information about our transport planning efforts.

How we got here and what's next

The Draft Plan has considered and evaluated the diverse and changing transport needs of the distinct subregions and local government areas, guiding coordinated solutions to support the specific needs of these communities. Furthermore, it complements work being done by all levels of government to efficiently respond to anticipated changes in land use, demographics, and travel demand across the Central West and Orana region. The Draft Plan is outcomes focused and identifies initiatives to deliver better transport policies, services, and infrastructure for our communities. Initiatives will provide staged timing for the planning of service or infrastructure projects, offering greater assurance around short to medium-term transport priorities.

The draft SRITP for the Central West and Orana builds on the extensive work already carried out on the former Regional Transport Plan, and incorporates input received from key stakeholders and the community during 2024/2025.

Several key themes emerged from this early engagement and helped inform the SRITP’s objectives. These objectives support how we will achieve the strategic transport vision for the Central West and Orana.
