In the Central West and Orana, we are paving the way for a transport system that reflects the unique character and needs of the region.
The Draft Central West and Orana Strategic Regional Integrated Transport Plan [link] (the Plan) provides a 20-year vision and defines the key transport priorities for the region to support community, land use and transport needs, now and into the future.
The Draft Central West and Orana SRITP is now available for feedback, and we are inviting our communities and stakeholders to have their say on the Draft Plan and its proposed initiatives. Your feedback will help us refine the draft by understanding what is important to you and if we have missed anything.
We appreciate you may not have read the Draft Plan, so we have designed a quick survey to easily provide your feedback. You can pick which themes relate best to your concerns or ideas and tell us what you think about the initiatives we’ve identified.
Alternatively, you can upload a submission or send us feedback by emailing engage.sritps@transport.nsw.gov.au.
Feedback closes Sunday 31 August 2025.

The draft SRITP for the Central West and Orana builds on the extensive work already carried out on the former Regional Transport Plan, and incorporates input received from key stakeholders and the community during 2024/2025.
Several key themes emerged from this early engagement and helped inform the SRITP’s objectives. These objectives support how we will achieve the strategic transport vision for the Central West and Orana.

There are seven objectives of the Draft Central West and Orana Strategic Regional Integrated Transport Plan.
Starting with Country and Closing the Gap
All investment in the transport network, services, policy and technology take a Country-centred approach.
Access to transport for all
All Central West and Orana residents, workers, and visitors will have access to more equitable options for travelling to and from local, regional, and metropolitan destinations and services.
Well located housing and successful places
Well-located housing and successful places will be supported by coordinated delivery of active transport network infrastructure and public transport services.
A thriving and diversifying economy
Transport infrastructure and services support local business, the visitor economy and improving the productivity of freight movements to support jobs growth, increased regional productivity, and economic diversification
A safe transport network
Trauma on the Central West and Orana road network will be in decline and heading towards Transport’s goal of zero fatalities and serious injuries by 2050
Resilient networks
Proactive planning for network shocks and stresses will increase the reliability of the transport network.
Net Zero Emissions
Minimising greenhouse gas emissions and particulate pollution to deliver an environmentally sustainable transport network and healthy natural environments.
A list of more than 60 initiatives have been identified to respond to the objectives and challenges of the region.
These initiatives are a mixture of small and large infrastructure projects, programs, service improvements, and policy changes – in the short, medium, or long term. The initiatives can be viewed at the back of the Draft Plan, or you can comment on them in the survey.
Feedback received during public consultation will be reviewed and a consultation summary report will be prepared and published. Feedback will also be considered to further refine the Plan, with the final Plan expected to be delivered in late 2025.
