It's an exciting time for the Fairfield community with a hospital redevelopment now under way.

The NSW Government has committed $550 million to the redevelopment. With an additional $80 million from the Australian Government for emergency department expansion, the total project commitment is $630 million.

The master plan was completed in mid-2025, showing the existing grounds and buildings on the hospital site and identifying the best place for the current stage of redevelopment. It also identified areas which could be suitable for future hospital expansion, so there is a consistent and logical plan for the site for decades to come.

The next stage of design, called concept design, is currently underway, with plans now available for review and feedback by hospital staff and the community. The concept design shows where hospital departments will be located, how they connect with each other, and how the new facility will link to the existing hospital.

Master Plan FAQs

A new clinical services building would be located within the redevelopment zone at the front of the hospital. The size, location, design and mix of services will be decided as planning progresses.

More parking will be provided as part of the redevelopment. Two parking zones have been identified as part of the master planning. The type of parking and number of spaces will be confirmed as the project progresses.
