The Northern Beaches Network Review examines how the transport network serving the Northern Beaches and Lower North Shore is performing and where improvements can be made.
The Review looks at how we can improve travel in and around the Northern Beaches with a focus on practical proposals that can be delivered in the short to medium term.
Our goal is to make the transport network work better for everyone, improving efficiency and supporting more people to choose public and active transport. We are at the early stages of planning and what we focus on next will be shaped by your feedback.
To have your say:
Your insights will help refine priorities and shape practical, community focused solutions from the opportunities and initiatives identified.
We want to hear about your experience using the transport network: how you travel, when you travel, and whether the challenges and opportunities we’ve identified reflect what you see day to day.

We are seeking your feedback on how we can improve travel on key Northern Beaches Roads.
Upgrading 3.4km of this road from two lanes to four lanes between McCarrs Creek Road, Terrey Hills and Powder Works Road, Ingleside. This project will improve traffic flow and capacity, reducing bottlenecks. Widening the road with wider shoulders enhances safety and a new separate shared active transport path on the north side connects Terrey Hills to Ingleside for safer cycling and walking journeys.
Transport is progressing plans for road improvements between Frenchs Forest Road, Frenchs Forest and Pittwater Road, North Narrabeen. This includes intersection upgrades and a focus on improving intersection capacity, better active transport infrastructure such as bus stops and bike lanes and increased network resilience.
Improving a 4km section between North Sydney and Naremburn to improve capacity, safety and efficiency. This project will streamline the existing motorway to ease traffic on the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Tunnel. It also enhances travel between North Sydney, Sydney and the inner west. It includes active transport upgrades such as the new Falcon Street shared user bridge and boosts public transport with more direct, reliable bus routes.
A major new 6.5km road tunnel connecting the Warringah Freeway to WestConnex at Rozelle Interchange to ease congestion. This provides a new, direct route for drivers to avoid the Sydney CBD and eases pressure on the Harbour Bridge, Harbour Tunnel and Anzac Bridge. This means faster travel times, improved connectivity and frees up existing road space for more direct and reliable buses.
The following projects are funded under the Road Safety Program:
