Local ambassadors meet redevelopment team

20 March 2025

Fairfield Hospital’s Consumer and Community Participation Committee met with the Fairfield Hospital Redevelopment Team last month to hear more about the planning and share ideas about what their respective communities want from the new facilities.

“It takes special people to step up as community volunteers at hospitals,” Fairfield Hospital General Manager Paul Crowe said.

They contribute their own time and effort to ensure we have open dialogue and ideas exchange with Fairfield’s diverse communities, and that is essential with this exciting redevelopment.

Committee members told the team that they valued the hospital’s friendly, welcoming and culturally diverse character, and they want to see that reflected in any future design.

Health Infrastructure Project Director Joshua Scharfegger explained that the project is at the beginning of the planning and consultation process.

“Our first major milestone will be the release of a master plan which helps guide future development,” Joshua said.

“The master plan shows the existing buildings and identifies the best places for future expansion.

The master plan is expected to be released shortly and you will be able to comment on the plan at community information sessions.
