The NSW Government is investing $138 million in the Cessnock Hospital Redevelopment, which will deliver a new acute services building and provide enhanced healthcare facilities on the existing hospital site.

The project scope includes an expanded emergency department, operating theatres, day surgery spaces, two inpatient units, medical imaging, pharmacy and a new main entry.

As planning and design nears completion, the project has been placed on public exhibition until midnight, Monday 17 February 2025.

As part of the public exhibition, the project’s Review of Environmental Factors (REF) report, which has been prepared to assess the potential benefits and environmental impacts of the project, was available for feedback.

30 submissions were received during the public exhibition period, and were assessed as part of planning approvals.

Health Infrastructure engages with community and stakeholders, including seeking input and feedback on our projects, in accordance with our Community Participation Plan.

The project team appreciates the valuable time and input provided by staff, stakeholders and the community into the design process for the redevelopment.
