Health Infrastructure (HI) is proposing construction works as part of the Blacktown and Mount Druitt Additional Beds Project. An expansion and refurbishment of Mount Druitt Hospital is proposed to accommodate additional beds, and clinical and non-clinical spaces. As part of this process, HI is required to assess the likely impacts of the proposal in accordance with Part 5 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.

The proposed works include:

Level 1 – extension to existing building

  • Relocation and expansion of Outpatient Department (OPD) accommodating 23 separate rooms or points of care as well as ancillary rooms and spaces of about 833m2.
  • New enclosed lobby of about 75m2.
  • Future expansion zone (cold shell for future clinical or non-clinical purposes) of about 235m2.
  • New in-patient unit (IPU) and support spaces of about 1,085m2 in area with external fire / access stairs to Level 1 / ground.

Level 2 – extension to existing building

  • New in-patient unit (IPU) and support spaces of about 1,085m2 in area with external fire / access stairs to Level 1 / ground.

Formal submissions closed on 19 December 2025 however the planning documents remain available to review and download on the right. The project team is reviewing all submissions, which will be considered as part of the planning approval process.
