Increasing the number of women and girls in trade apprenticeships.

Women are underrepresented in trades across a range of sectors. They make up only 2% of qualified workers in key industries, such as building and automotive.

By increasing women’s participation in trades where there is low representation, NSW can:

  • address skills shortages,
  • encourage broader career opportunities for all,
  • tackle gender discrimination in the workplace,
  • boost the state’s economy.

The NSW Behavioural Insights Unit has partnered with Training Services NSW to increase the recruitment of women in non-traditional trades.
