Heidi Lee speaking at R U OK? Day event

Heidi Lee speaking at R U OK? Day event on the IMHC site.

1 October 2025: On Thursday 11 September, representatives from Richard Crookes Constructions, Health Infrastructure, Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD), Incolink, and Foundation House gathered at the site of the new Integrated Mental Health Complex (IMHC) to mark R U OK? Day - a national reminder that every day is the right day to check in with those around us.

The early morning event brought together workers, project partners and mental health advocates to reflect on the importance of connection, especially in the construction industry, which continues to face some of the highest rates of suicide in Australia.

Peter Crabtree, Site Manager at Richard Crookes Constructions, shared a sobering reminder:

The IMHC project team paused to acknowledge the vital role they play, not just in building infrastructure, but in creating a place of healing and hope for the Western Sydney community.

Heidi Lee, Assistant Manager, Acting Patient Experience Manager, Mental Health Services, spoke powerfully about the vision for the new facility:

The event also reinforced the message behind R U OK? Day 2025: “Ask R U OK? Any Day.” Whether it’s a colleague, a friend, or a family member - asking the question could change a life. And as Heidi reminded the team:

As the IMHC approaches completion in 2027, R U OK? Day served as a powerful reminder that mental health is everyone’s responsibility - on site and beyond. The conversations started on 11 September don’t end there. By continuing to check in with one another, we help build not just a hospital, but a culture of care, connection and hope for the future.
