The NSW Government is investing $50 million towards duplicating Thornton Road Bridge over the Main North railway.
Transport for NSW (Transport) will be duplicating Thornton Road Bridge to provide four lanes across the Main North railway at Thornton. The project will help ease congestion along Thornton Road at this known bottleneck.
The close proximity of the existing bridge to the traffic lights at Glenroy Street causes congestion at this pinch point, which a second two lane bridge will help alleviate. Transport for NSW has investigated upgrade options along this section to improve traffic flow and safety for all users, while helping meet the future needs of an increased population and employment in the area.
A preferred design has been developed for the proposed upgrade, which includes providing four lanes across the Main North railway to increase the reliability and capacity of Thornton Road. This will help ease congestion along Thornton Road at the traffic lights on Glenroy Street, especially during peak periods.
This is your chance to have your say on the preferred design for the proposed upgrade. Your feedback will help us understand what is important to you and help further refine the concept design.
