Release of the What We Heard Report

14 July 2023

The Greater Cities Commission (the Commission) has released the What We Heard Report (the Report), detailing feedback from community, councils, and businesses on the Six Cities Region Discussion Paper.

Thank you to everyone who made a submission and for providing feedback on the vision for Australia’s first global multi-city region. Over 3,570 responses were received through the “Have Your Say” survey.

Extensive consultation also took place with communities across the region between August and December last year. This included briefings and workshops with 43 councils, stakeholder roundtable discussions and yarns with First Nations groups.

Feedback gathered through the consultation process has provided us with valuable insights and feedback on the vision for the Six Cities Region and the ideas and themes presented in the Six Cities Region Discussion Paper.

The What We Heard Report is part of our commitment to ensuring the community, businesses and partners’ voices remain at the centre of our strategic planning. The feedback presented in the Report will be reflected in the draft Region and City Plans.

The Greater Cities Commission’s staff joined the NSW Department of Planning and Environment (DPE) on 1 July 2023 to bolster planning outcomes. The Commission’s Commissioners will remain in place to provide independent advice to the NSW Government, and the responsibilities for strategic planning and economic precincts across the Six Cities Region remain the same.
