Reforming building laws in NSW
The NSW Government is working to increase confidence in our building and construction industry.
We are looking at how we can better protect consumers and support workers through our Reforming building laws in NSW consultation.
Have your say on securing prompt and fair payment for building work
As part of this overall consultation, we are looking at securing prompt and fair payment for building work by proposing changes to the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 1999 and the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Regulation 2020.
The proposed changes will help builders and tradespeople get paid more quickly and fairly for their work and reduce the time and cost of having payment disputes reviewed.
This topic was most relevant to owner-builders, builders, specialist tradespeople, engineers, designers, architects, developers, fire safety practitioners and adjudicators.
Thank you for your feedback
The consultation closed on Friday 25 November 2022. It consisted of an all-in-one survey where you could give feedback on one or all of the topics that interested you. You were also able to make a submission, which allowed you to give detailed feedback or respond directly to the questions in the regulatory impact statements.
Thank you to participants for providing your input which we have considered as part our work.
