Help improve the Working with Children Check in NSW.
The Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG) is inviting the community to have their say on the review of legislation that underpins the Working with Children Check (WWCC).
As of October 2025, more than 2 million people in NSW hold a WWCC clearance, with over half a million processed in the past year alone.
The Review will ensure that the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012 (WWC Act) continues to protect children and young people, while remaining clear, fair and effective.
The Review may lead to:
- changes in how key terms are defined
- who may require a WWCC
- how decisions are made.
We are encouraging individuals, organisations and community groups to contribute their feedback.
Tell us what you think
We are asking for your feedback to help us draft recommendations on how the WWCC can continue to protect children and young people and be fair for applicants.
You can provide feedback by completing a survey or uploading a submission.
You can register your interest for a consultation session to discuss the Review and provide feedback.
You can also register for an information session to hear more about the Review.
The Review will be open for community consultation from 26 November 2025 until 27 February 2026.
