Transport for NSW is planning to rebuild Crankies Plain Bridge over the Coolumbooka River north of Bombala. The project aims to preserve the heritage significance of one of four remaining McDonald timber truss bridges in NSW, ensuring the structure remains safe and operational long into the future.

During the rebuilding work, the bridge will be closed to vehicles for approximately four years, weather permitting, and a detour will be in place. We have investigated various options ranging from detouring traffic via the Monaro Highway and local roads, to installing a temporary bridge.

We recently completed a detailed assessment and identified our preferred detour option. We'd now like to invite the community to provide feedback on the proposed project to understand how community use the bridge and surrounding local roads and to inform the final detour selection. The three detour options will be outlined in the survey below.
