NSW Out-of-Home Care (OOHC) Carer Strategy Consultation
The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) is developing a 5-year Out-of-Home Care Carer Strategy.
Our vision is for a world class out-of-home care system that enables children to thrive in supportive, stable environments, and recognises carers as key partners in creating safety and rebuilding family connections.
Part of broader out-of-home care reforms, the Carers Strategy will outline a vision where all carers are valued, heard and are partners in decision-making.
Elevating carer voices
Carers will be given meaningful opportunities to contribute to the strategy to ensure their voices, needs and lived experiences inform and influence improvements to our out-of-home care system.
Tell us what you think
Carer’s experiences and insights will be key to informing the development of the OOHC Carer Strategy.
We want to hear from you about what quality carer support looks like. We want to understand what’s working well so we can build on this.
Importantly, we want to make sure we understand the system challenges and areas we can improve from the perspective of carers.
We will also be reviewing and incorporating feedback we have received from carers over the past two years - so if you have already shared your thoughts with us, you can contribute again, but don't feel you have to.
