NSW LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Strategy

Help inform the development of NSW's first LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Strategy.

The NSW Government proudly supports LGBTIQA+ communities and recognises that there are legal, social and health issues that continue to impact the rights, safety and wellbeing of LGBTIQA+ people.

The NSW Government is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and equitable NSW where all people can live free from discrimination.

The NSW LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Strategy will provide a strategic approach for NSW Government agencies to collectively:

Recognise, understand and address the barriers and inequities faced by LGBTIQA+ communities
Progress specific actions that will achieve equitable, inclusive outcomes for LGBTIQA+ communities
Celebrate the diversity of LGBTIQA+ people across NSW and support them to thrive.

Why are we collecting your personal information?

Your personal or health information (personal information) is not requested or required for the purpose of this anonymous survey. However, there may be situations where DCS receives information that identifies an individual.

The Department of Customer Service (DCS) may collect personal information through this survey, and disclose it to the Premier's Department, for the purposes of:

gaining community feedback to inform the development of the NSW LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Strategy; and
conducting data analysis.

What personal information do we collect?

We will collect the following information from you:

Demographic information including information on gender and sexuality, postcode and information/opinions relating to and/or personal experiences of being an LGBTIQA+ person, or parent/guardian of an LGBTIQA+ person, in NSW.

How will we use and disclose this information?

DCS and Premier's Department will use the personal information you provide to shape the NSW LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Strategy.

We may provide your personal information to other areas of DCS (for example the Data Analytics Centre and Customer Insights) so that we can conduct analysis across all consultations and refine our engagement methodology.

The personal information will be stored on the DAC’s secure platform, which is hosted in a secure commercial cloud data centre in Australia.

DCS and the Premier’s Department will use and disclose your personal information in accordance with our obligations under the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (PPIP Act) and the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (HRIP Act).

Are you required by law to provide us with this information?

Participating in a Have your say consultation is voluntary, and you are not legally required to provide any personal information to us. However, if you choose not to provide us with the requested information, we may not be able to obtain the data and information required to ensure the voices of NSW LGBTIQA+ communities are heard in informing the development of the strategy.
