Expressions of Interest (EOIs) invited: Muswellbrook Hospital Redevelopment arts program
The redevelopment is creating a modern, welcoming healthcare facility for our community, and we want local creativity to be part of it.
EOIs are now open for art commissions for the new Community Health space, with opportunities for artists to contribute works that will help create calming, uplifting spaces for patients, families, and staff.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a significant public health project and showcase your work in a high-profile space that reflects the spirit and diversity of Muswellbrook.
Up to 12 artworks will be selected and installed in the new Community Health consultation rooms.
Artists are asked to share examples of existing artworks available for purchase (preferred) or examples of previous work.
Artworks will be selected based on the following criteria:
- Connection – artists and/or artworks that are reflective of the Muswellbrook region.
- Scale – are no larger than 1200mm long and 900mm high.
- Materiality – made from quality materials.
- Thematic – artworks are in a style complimentary to the health care environment. The hospital environment can be emotionally charged and any artwork should seek to complement the space by providing calming and uplifting sensory experiences with a strong narrative to capture and hold imagination.
Artworks will be purchased based on the pricing supplied in the submission. Artworks do not need to be framed.
We welcome EOIs from artists at all career stages who are living or working in the Hunter New England Local Health District and who have a connection to Muswellbrook.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists are encouraged to apply, as well as organisations and collaborative groups.
