The new Maitland Mental Health Rehabilitation facility will be constructed on the Maitland Hospital campus, enhancing specialist mental health services in the region and ensuring improved support for individuals requiring ongoing mental health care.
Key features of the project include modern inpatient rehabilitation spaces, dedicated therapy areas, enhanced outdoor and recreational facilities, and a design focused on recovery-oriented care to support patients in their transition back to independent living.
As planning and design nears completion, the Review of Environmental Factors (REF) report and facility designs were placed on public exhibition until 11:59pm Wednesday 9 April 2025.
The public exhibition has now closed, however you can continue to view the project’s Review of Environmental Factors (REF) report, which has been prepared to assess the potential benefits and environmental impacts of the project.
The submissions received will be used to finalise the design, prior to construction commencing in late 2025.
Health Infrastructure and Hunter New England Local Health District are continuing to work together to ensure priority health services are delivered for the Lower Hunter community as part of the project.
Health Infrastructure engages with community and stakeholders, which includes seeking input and feedback on our projects in accordance with our Community Participation Plan.
The project team appreciates the valuable time and input provided by staff, stakeholders and the community into the design process for the development.
