Stevenover 2 years agoHelp Sydney's ideas find more freshwater swimming areas
Greater Sydney has world class, enviable, beautiful beaches. However, Greater Sydney also has beautiful and clean rivers. Greater Sydney takes full advantage of our beautiful beaches, however, few people would know where to find an inland swimming hole. Sometimes, people might choose to swim in a river or lake or in a waterfall, or just in fresh water in general, rather than the ocean, and considering that Great Sydney had the best of both worlds, why not help Sydneysiders and visitors to experience the best of both worlds? Open more inland swimming holes, have more road signs to direct people to inland swimming holes, expand existing bus routes to inland go to inland swimming holes, and just generally, let more locals and tourists know about out them. These areas could also be turned into parks and beautiful places for people to enjoy nature

A city in Denmark is introducing green rooves to its bus network. A green roof is a roof with vegetation on top. The Danish city is doing this in order to help make the city more green. I believe that Sydney could benefit from such an idea for our bus stops, tram/light rail stops, train/metro stations and ferry wharves. You would place light weight, native vegetation on the roof and let it grow. Because Greater Sydney has more built area, and thus less nature than anywhere else in the state, we can trial green rooves for public transport in Greater Sydney and if successful, we can implement it in the rest of the state

There are periods when Sydney has too much water, and periods when Sydney doesn't have enough water. We should build more water storage capabilities to fill during floods and get us through droughts
