The NSW Reconstruction Authority is seeking feedback from the Clarence Valley farming community on the construction of new livestock flood refuge mounds

Livestock flood refuge mounds are typically used as a temporary or backup option for managing flood risk, providing a high point of safety for livestock when there is no option for evacuation. Livestock flood refuge mounds on carefully selected sites that are accessible to the local farming community can provide critical temporary refuge for animals, limiting injury, illness, starvation or drowning and are an important part of flood preparedness.

We're keen to hear from livestock farmers in flood-affected areas in the Clarence Valley Local Government Area, to understand the need, benefit and potential locations for new livestock flood refuge mounds.
