Help us shape the direction of industry policy in NSW

The NSW economy and business environments are transforming in response to economic and social change. Help us better understand the impacts on industries and businesses in NSW.

The NSW Government is preparing a White Paper on Industry Policy that will set directions to underpin the State’s economic performance over the next 10 to 15 years.

To ensure that NSW industry policy continues to benefit NSW industries and residents, we are inviting feedback on the forces driving substantial, rapid and ongoing change across the economy and on the actions to ensure NSW continues to offer a business environment enabling accelerated growth.

Our Green Paper explores a range of transformative forces

Transformative forces driving structural economic change over the next 10 to 15 years will underpin industry policy reform in NSW. Examples of these forces include:

  • Transition to net zero emissions by 2050.
  • Building a circular economy.
  • Shifting to an increasingly digital economy.
  • Harnessing new opportunities and managing risks in global value chains; and
  • Capitalising on growing consumer markets in Asia.

We want to hear your views on what the most important challenges transforming how we work (our industries), how we live (our communities), and the NSW economy overall. To transform an industry sector and its key value chains takes time and coordination. In a competitive and dynamic environment, gains can be realised by accelerating this transition.

The White Paper on Industry Policy for NSW aims to set the enabling conditions for this investment to take place. This Green Paper builds on the NSW Industry Development Framework released in February 2022.

Tell us what you think

Have your say by Monday 6 June 2022.

Public submissions are invited from NSW industry groups, individual businesses, higher education and research institutions and interested members of the broader community. The Green Paper sets out a series of questions to guide written submissions.

Submissions may range from a short letter outlining your views on a particular question or issue, to a more substantial document covering a range of issues. Where possible, you should provide evidence to support your views, such as relevant data and documentation.
