icare and workers' compensation independent review
What was this about?
The NSW Government ran a consultation to inform the Independent Review of Insurance and Care NSW (icare), the workers' compensation scheme and the five-year statutory review of the State Insurance and Care Governance Act 2015 (SICG Act).
The Treasurer and the Minister for Digital and Minister for Customer Service announced the Review on 4 August 2020. The review was headed by retired Supreme Court Judge, the Hon Robert McDougall QC.
The matters in scope for the Review were:
A comprehensive organisational review of icare, including issues raised in the media
The structure and sustainability of the nominal insurer’s and treasury managed fund workers’ compensation schemes
The statutory review required by section 32 of the SICG Act.
The Review sought feedback from the community and stakeholders from 1 October to 4 November 2020. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the survey or made a submission – we have considered each of them.
We have published submissions from institutional stakeholders, except where confidentiality was requested – see the Your submissions panel on this page. For privacy reasons, we have not published submissions from individuals.
