UGL Regional Linx (UGLRL), on behalf of Transport for NSW, will be replacing the bridge at Friday Hut Road, Binna Burra and is consulting with the community and stakeholders to understand current bridge use and how the proposed work may impact them, ahead of works planned to commence in August 2025.

The rail bridge at Friday Hut Road, Binna Burra requires renewal to better serve the community. The existing timber bridge will be demolished and replaced with a new steel arched bridge.

As part of this project, UGLRL is consulting with the community and stakeholders to understand how the proposed work will impact users and residents and to explain the project and its benefits.

This project will improve safety, accessibility, and transport efficiency for all road users.

As a part of the upgrade, you will see some of the following improvements:

  • a wider bridge to allow for two-lane traffic which will reduce travel times
  • an improvement to the quality and safety of the bridge to meet the current engineering and road standards.

Detour

The bridge will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians during the work, however a detour will be in place. Following valuable feedback from the community and stakeholders, it has been made clear that Dudgeons Lane is not suitable as a detour route for the upcoming works.

In response to this feedback, we have identified an alternative route.
A 21.8-kilometre detour via Friday Hut Road, Coolamon Scenic Drive, and Lismore Road, is available with an extended journey time of up to 23 minutes.
