Let us know what you think of our plan to upgrade the Cudal Future Mobility Testing and Research Centre

The Cudal Future Mobility Testing and Research Centre (FMTRC), operated by Transport for NSW, is Australia’s next world-class testing and research facility for safer vehicle and sustainable transport technologies.

The site’s history traces back to the historic Hazelton airfield, a hub for transport and aviation between 1959 and 2002. Today, this legacy continues with plans to expand the centre across more than 130 hectares.

The proposed development will be delivered in stages:

Stage 1 (funded): Construction of a closed-loop test track around four kilometres in length with a dynamic testing area and a 500m access road, along with upgrades to intersections and internal roads within the site.

Stage 2 (planned, subject to funding): Future site buildings and operational facilities including an administration building, transport workshop, client workshops, ancillary building, and a new dedicated visitor and staff car park to support the growing demand for testing programs and industry services.

To support this upgrade, Transport for NSW has prepared a Review of Environmental Factors (REF) to assess the potential environmental and social impacts of the proposed site works. The REF is now on public display, and the community is encouraged to review the proposal and provide feedback.
