We want your input as we explore the idea of a digital birth certificate.
Verifying your identity can be time-consuming and it should take seconds in the digital era. NSW is already well on the digital journey with the option to use a digital driver licence within the Service NSW app.
Nationally, myGov is a secure way to access government services online in one place with a single digital account. We want to get your thoughts as we look at what going digital with birth certificates could mean for you.
Why create a digital birth certificate?
A digital version of your birth certificate would give you easy access to this important identity document, anywhere, anytime, in a secure way. It removes issues of where to safely keep your paper copy. It would be widely accepted by government, businesses, schools, and sporting organisations, making it easier to register and apply for things you need.
The insights we gain are part of a national conversation, as other Australian states are also looking at creating digital birth certificates.

Thank you to everyone who gave their input. This phase of the engagement has ended and we are currently reviewing your input. Your valuable insights will help us shape a digital birth certificate that meets the expectations of the citizens of Australia.
