Community Improvement Districts Amendment Regulation 2025

The Community Improvement Districts Act 2025 (the CID Act) was passed by the NSW Parliament in early May 2025. The Act provides for the establishment and operation of CIDs in NSW. You can find more information on the CID legislation here.

The NSW Government sought feedback on the draft CID Amendment Regulation 2025 and the Guide to Policy and Regulatory Impact Statement to support the implementation of CID policy. Consultation closed on 12 September 2025. We are currently reviewing the feedback provided on the regulations.

The proposed amendments included matters related to community consultation, developing a CID proposal, the CID ballot and voting process, council support, governance and operational requirements.

The Community Improvement Districts Regulation 2025 is now finalised and is included in Schedule 3 of the CID Act.
