Plan for the economic future of the Central Coast
Help us accelerate business and jobs growth on the Central Coast.
The NSW Government is preparing a strategy to find and boost economic opportunities on the Central Coast.
We've met with local council, key industries and government agencies in the region. They helped us to identify several initial areas that could grow businesses and jobs locally.
Now we want your advice!
Tell us what you think
We will use your feedback to inform the Central Coast Strategy.
To have your say, complete as many of the activities as you'd like.
Thank you for your feedback

Your thoughts
over 2 years agoCLOSED: Thank you for your input. This brainstorm is now closed as we are currently reviewing your ideas. We have identified initial areas of interest that could help stimulate the economy and create local jobs on the Central Coast:
- Locate a university campus in Gosford city centre to bring greater learning opportunities to the region, stimulate the economy and create local jobs
- Expand health services in Gosford to support the Central Coast’s growing population and generate local jobs
- Facilitate faster transport connections to and from regional centres to foster economic growth and new jobs on the Central Coast
- Increase the amount of serviced industrial lands on the Central Coast to support and expand industries such as food technology and advanced manufacturing
- Streamline planning processes to help remove barriers, such as uncertainty and wait times, for businesses looking to locate on the Central Coast
- Establish a high-speed internet network to attract new, diverse businesses to the Central Coast and remove any existing barriers for growth related to digital connectivity
What do you think? Please share your thoughts by telling us:
- Can you identify any challenges or opportunities in any of the above?
- What does success look like to you in any of these?
David Abrahamsover 2 years agoStand alone Central Coast Poly Technical University
The case for OUR OWN tertiary institution has never been stronger. A poly-tech / university of the Central Coast will grow the industry and commonwealth of the region first and foremost, not the KPIs of far flung institutions. A CC poly-tech uni would have local community and business leaders as faculty members, defining what their local industry needs to develop. A multi campus smorgasbord will simply be an 'on again, off again' course offering for students, based on political or donor whims. ( UoN is currently cutting courses massively and continues to over promise and under deliver on building a new campus in Gosford. This is entirely to be expected it is The university FOR NEWCASTLE, that is it's DNA) OUR OWN institution gives longevity beyond political cycles and academic fads and focuses on the needs and opportunities of the region. We have had good campuses here on the CC for decades. Our statistics on tertiary attainment, industry and employment development are still low and speak for themselves. A campus model does not work without our own institution leading the partnership and defining the relationship and investment offering. If the Central Coast is to grow up and not be treated like an extended suburb of Sydney or Newcastle it requires a confident stand alone institution to drive it's economic, cultural and intellectual capacity. A grand opportunity stands before us. Let's stop being apologists on this and grasp the nettle of real development.

North Gosford has a large amount of ageing and dying ghost gumtrees. Over the past few years due to soil erosion and changing climate we have seen them toppled through homes and bring the region into fear of the next tree falling through our homes. There is a massive risk of this causing death and property damage to further the damage faced even single storm by our community. We ask that our council considers this a priority before it takes a life.
