Have your say on the proposed removal of the Catherine Hill Bay Jetty.

The Catherine Hill Bay Jetty has been assessed by the NSW Government and found to be structurally unsound, with no safe or practical way to retain it. While we continue to monitor and assess the structure, and take measures to address immediate safety risks, we need a long-term solution. To improve safety and reopen the full beach area, we are proposing the removal of the jetty. While full removal is our preferred option, we are consulting with the community to hear their views before finalising a decision.

A 2023 structural condition report found the jetty has significantly deteriorated and poses a significant safety risk to the community. The report looked at three ways to address safety concerns with the jetty: removing part of it as part of a stepped process to full removal, removing all of it, or fully repairing it.

The preferred option is to remove the jetty completely and install a memorial to honour its history and significance to the town.

A recent engineering review also found the jetty’s condition has worsened since the last report in 2023. You can read the full report at: Catherine Hill Bay Jetty – Structural Condition Reports | Crown Lands.

Tell us what you think

We know many people will have strong views about the proposed works to the jetty and we want to hear them. We are consulting with the community to ensure residents, local businesses and stakeholders understand the project, have the opportunity to provide feedback on the proposals and discuss any impacts that the works may pose to their activities, and have their say about the heritage installation to commemorate the jetty’s place in the town’s history.
