SafeWork NSW has drafted the new Safe use and design of bulk storage silos and bins code of practice.
We are proposing the new code will replace the existing codes of practice for the:
- Safe use of bulk solids containers and flatbed storage including silos, field bins and chaser bins (2006)
- Safety aspects in the design of bulk solids containers including silos, field bins and chaser bins (2005).
Following consultation with stakeholders, we have created a draft code to better meet modern safety standards and new ways of working. The code provides information and guidance to make sure risks involved with the use and design of bulk storage silos and bins are managed according to current work health and safety laws.
