We want to understand your experiences travelling through the Burley Griffin Way intersection with Fitzroy Street.

Transport for NSW is planning safety improvements at the Burley Griffin Way intersection with Fitzroy Street at Binalong. The proposed design includes:

  • road widening on Burley Griffin Way and Fitzroy Street to allow for the installation of safety barrier
  • installing 300 metres of safety barrier to stop vehicles from leaving the road and hitting roadside hazards, including slopes
  • closing Richmond Street access from Burley Griffin Way for the installation of safety barrier that addresses the crash history at the location
  • building a concrete median on Fitzroy Street to encourage road users to slow down and not cut the corner when entering Fitzroy Street
  • removing northbound access on Fitzroy Street for heavy vehicles over 15 tonnes to reduce the potential of a heavy vehicle incident on Fitzroy Street
  • upgrading signage including painting the speed zone on the road surface to encourage road users to drive to the speed limit through the village.

We heard your concerns regarding the proposed safety improvements and have put the project on hold while we gather more information from the community.
