Transport for NSW (Transport) had expected to start work on Bawden Bridge mid-2025. However, due to ongoing engagement with key stakeholder groups, work is now expected to commence in mid-2026 with the temporary bridge closure to occur in early 2027, weather permitting.
Transport understands this process is taking longer than anticipated and we are working to ensure all stakeholder issues are addressed before the start of the bridge maintenance work.

Transport for NSW is seeking community feedback on the Review of Environmental Factors (REF) for the proposed essential maintenance work for Bawden Bridge.
The REF has been prepared outlining the features of the concept design and assesses a range of potential environmental impacts expected during construction and operation.
The REF includes:
- The method we plan to use to repair the bridge
- How we plan to minimise impacts to our environment and the community.
Have your say by Sunday 27 October 2024.
