Bathurst Hospital Redevelopment - Public exhibition

The NSW Government is investing $200 million in the Bathurst Hospital Redevelopment to provide patients, staff and carers with access to modern facilities and expanded healthcare services to meet the healthcare needs of the Central West region now and into the future.

As planning and design nears completion, the Review of Environmental Factors (REF) planning documents and hospital designs are now available for the community to view and provide feedback until midnight, Friday 21 March 2025.

As part of the public exhibition, you can view the project’s Review of Environmental Factors (REF) report, which has been prepared to assess the potential benefits and environmental impacts of the project.

As a result of the NSW Government’s planning reforms introduced in November 2024 to streamline essential infrastructure works, the environmental impacts of the Bathurst Hospital Redevelopment will be assessed as a REF instead of a State Significant Development Application (SSDA). The REF pathway still requires thorough assessment of environmental impacts, along with consultation with communities, councils and other stakeholders before works can begin.

The request for the Secretary’s Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARS), as part of the SSDA process, will be withdrawn shortly with the Department of Planning Housing and Infrastructure.

The submissions received will be used to finalise the details of the design, prior to construction commencing in 2025.

Health Infrastructure engages with community and stakeholders, including seeking input and feedback on our projects, in accordance with our Community Participation Plan.

The project team appreciates the valuable time and input provided by staff, stakeholders and the community into the design process for the redevelopment.
