We want your feedback on design options for the Avoca Drive upgrade.

The Australian Government has committed $100 million towards upgrades to Avoca Drive at Kincumber, alongside the NSW Government’s commitment of $30 million.

Avoca Drive, through Kincumber, is used by an average of about 26,000 vehicles a day, with heavy vehicles accounting for around six per cent of daily traffic. During peak travel times motorists experience congestion and slow travel times on Avoca Drive, particularly around the intersection of Bungoona and Carrak roads.

With increasing population and employment in the region, traffic volumes are predicted to increase over the next 30 years, leading to further reductions in traffic performance.

The proposal is being developed for future upgrades along Avoca Drive between Boora Boora Road and Joalah Road.

Strategic designs have been developed to help improve safety, and journey reliability for motorists, cater for existing and future traffic flows as well as improve and encourage active and public transport. More information on the features of the overall design can be found at: https://nswroads.work/avocadr.

Through the Kincumber town centre, the existing roundabout at the intersection of Bungoona Road and Carrak Road is seen as a key constraint along Avoca Drive. Two design options are proposed to upgrade this location, including:

  • Option A: Split traffic signals at Bungoona Road/ Carrak Road and at Willesee Crescent intersection
  • Option B: Traffic signals at Bungoona Road / Carrak
