The NSW Government is seeking input into the development of a strategy document for supporting Aboriginal businesses over the next 4 years.
In October 2021 and May 2022, Aboriginal Affairs NSW hosted Aboriginal Business Roundtables to hear directly from Aboriginal businesses about what challenges they face to enter, grow and thrive in the NSW business sector.
The NSW Roadmap for Aboriginal Business Growth takes what we heard at the Roundtables and transforms these ideas into concrete policy responses. It includes three pillars aligned with key themes from the Roundtable events:
Strengthening accountability
Supporting businesses
Recognising talent.
The Roadmap will complement existing work under Priority Reform Five by providing targeted support for Aboriginal businesses under each pillar.
Tell us what you think
A consultation period for stakeholders to provide feedback on the draft Roadmap is open until Friday, 20 January 2023.
Aboriginal business owners and sector leaders are encouraged to read the draft document and provide feedback via our survey. Following the consultation period, this feedback will be incorporated into the Roadmap before it is formally released.
Consultation phase now closed
The consultation period for stakeholders to provide feedback on the draft Roadmap has now closed.
AANSW’s Closing the Gap team is reviewing submissions with the view to incorporating the most valuable feedback into the Roadmap before it is formally released.
Thanks to all those who participated in the process and provided feedback. The final Roadmap will be published early March 2023.
