Under the new Regional Communities (Consultation Standards) Act 2024, the NSW Government is developing a Guide to ensure that consultation practices are improved for regional, rural and remote communities.

We want your input on the draft Regional Communities Consultation Guide, which has been put together following community listening sessions held in regional centres across the state and recognises the unique challenges faced by these communities.

The draft Guide outlines the NSW Government’s approach to engaging with regional, rural and remote communities to make better decisions and improve the lives of people across NSW, and aims to:

• Set a prescribed standard
• Provide guidance to government agencies in how they undertake consultation
• Provide certainty to regional, rural and remote communities about how they can expect the NSW government to consult with them
