Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme

Two women hugging, one looks distressed

What is the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme?

The NSW Government is developing a model of a Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (DVDS) to pilot in NSW. The DVDS is similar to an initiative that was successfully introduced in the United Kingdom called Clare's Law. The DVDS will enable people to find out if their partner has a history of domestic violence offending. NSW will be the first state in Australia to establish a DVDS pilot.

The DVDS aims to increase the safety of people potentially at risk of domestic violence. It will have checks and balances in place to ensure informed disclosures are only made where appropriate.

Have your say

As we develop the DVDS we want to know what the public thinks about a number of key questions. Responses to these questions will help develop a DVDS model for NSW.
