Arts Infrastructure Strategy
Located on the Traditional Lands of the Wiradjuri People, the Albury Wodonga Regional Hospital Project is being delivered by Health Infrastructure in partnership with Albury Wodonga Health to provide modern health facilities that meet the needs of the community now and into the future.
Arts in health experiences are an integral part of NSW Health capital projects. They help reflect the character of each region’s community while creating welcoming and supportive environments for patients, families and staff.
As part of the redevelopment, the hospital is seeking artworks for a range of clinical and non-clinical areas, both inside and outside the new hospital. This strategy has been developed with input from the project Arts Working Group and the Albury Wodonga Health Arts Committee. Two key commissions are proposed for the Northeast Building.
Through engagement with stakeholders and the community, we heard a strong desire for the Albury Wodonga Regional Hospital Project to reflect the identity of the region, including its landscape, sense of place and connection to Country. These insights have informed the approach to the Northeast Building art commission.
Health Infrastructure is delighted to be working in partnership with Curatorium members, Murray Art Museum Albury (MAMA) and Murray Arts Inc. to plan and deliver the arts commissions for this project. By collaborating with locally trusted arts organisations, this approach ensures the commissions are deeply informed by local knowledge, cultural expertise and community connections, supporting meaningful creative outcomes that reflect and celebrate place, people and stories.
